Young people these days. Don’t they know exploding is detrimental to your health?

    • Radagast

But I heard it was a blast! D:

      • Etrius

        And a shocking success

        • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

          Such an electrifying experience!

          • Dragoon349

You should get together and hav a contest of the worst joke you can come up with to do with yosh

          • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

As if the author would actually care about us! These authors only respond to like the first ten or so comments after release.

          • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

            except Razorfox

          • TheAngryOldFart

Well yeah, they respond to a few new comments, relax a little (or a lot, or not at all) and then continue with work on the comic.

  • The Aussie Bloke

Remember kids, when investigating lightning mages, non-conductive clothing and footwear are your friends.

    • Esproc

Might actually be better to wear clothing that can conduct large quantities of electrons into the ground before it gets to the person inside. :<
Though even that likely wouldn't help given a sentient intent to kill as the governing force instead of the natural reaction of simply seeking a balanced state with the native protons.
Though I've heard it is possible to create a current with protons and that it is a stronger, and more painful, shock.

      • jarrow

I think you are referring to ‘holes’, rather than protons. It’s where electrons flow away from a target and the ‘positively charged holes’ – empty spots where electrons could fit – flow towards it. Batches of lone protons are better called hydrogen ions, and don’t have quite the same mobility, due to their mass. Protons moving in groups would be more ablative then shocking. : )

Anyway – IIRC, Phil explained in an earlier arc that the magic lightning doesn’t follow the same rules as the natural stuff.

        • Aether Luxumbra

Hmm, so a Faraday suit would be out of the question?

          • Dorje Sylas

Likely, as even if the charge is somehow deflected (and that’s a lot of directed charge) it could still generate a plasma line which would burn and melt your Faraday suit. Keep in kind the lightning also super heats the air and generates plasma. So even if you were somehow guarded from the electrical charge, you could still get burned to death for sustained localized super-heated gasses.

          • Takioki

This is a more intelligent scientific discussion then anything my science teacher has said all year.

          • Dragoon349

Read the text book then it might actualy teach you something. Me I read it at my leisure science is like math only hard for those who don’t have an imagination or an ability to see patterns

          • Aether Luxumbra

Aha, I forgot it’d be sustained as well. The suit would protect against a normal split-second lightning bolt’s electrical energy by grounding it, so redirection wouldn’t be an issue, but if sustained plasma caused a rupture in the suit it’s protective element would be gone and you’d fry.

Or maybe it’s magic that looks like lightning and is just atomizing whatever it hits. Magic can screw with logic like that. :P

    • Etrius

      What about a birthday suit?

  • Bucc_i

    snitches get stitches yo!

  • http://Twitter.com/Draven_Long Draven

Hmmm. If they keep discovering your informants, there may be a leak in the Agency.

    • Mr. Al

doesn’t matter. everyone hates fbi anyway :3

  • Mr. Al

gotta agree with the agent. impossible for axel to be a hell-mage after being exorsized (read my post on the previous strip to get what i mean). it doesn’t make sense for him to be more than a warlock (and yes, in pop-cult fantasy, there’s a difference between warlocks and “hell”-mages.) I jsut get the feeling axel’s bragging about stuff he barely udnerstands himself. 1mb4 him going dark-side as death’s aprentice or something, or at the very least her messing with his mind. said it ebfore, syaing it again: if there are hell-mages there msut be gandalf-mages. I WANT TO SEE SOME GANDALF DARNIT @_@

    • Mr. Al

and why is my spelling so messed up? T.T

    • Sage

Uhm, Axel is effectively the “Magi” of Demon magic. His title is “The Vile”. There is most definitely a “good” side version of him- and that’s Naoko, she’s “The Saint”. This has all been covered, and it wasnt that long ago that we had Naoko wants help contacting the celestial plane for help in unlocking her full potential.

    • Radagast

Building off Sage’s response: The major names in magic in Yosh are the Five (Fire, Water, Earth, Power, and the Life/Death Twins), the Null (Phil), the Saint (Naoko, Celestial magic, first identified as the Saint here, I think: http://yosh.katbox.net/comic/lia-meets-naoko-and-shisou/ ), and the Vile (Axel, Demon magic). This was perhaps most directly explained at around comic 572 (“Tapping into the Demon World”. http://yosh.katbox.net/comic/tapping-into-the-demon-world/ )

  • Passer by

I doubt I’m the only one, but… Am I the only one who thinks the dude in the first panel looks like a paper cut out or something? o.o

    • Sage

I see what ya mean, the depth does look a little odd and he’s pretty stiff looking. I probably forgot to Ink him in mirrored view which is what I normally do to catch oddities like that.

      • Dragoon349

It’s shaded and the lines are proportionate so why is it that he is like a cut out in a pop up book (neat effect but not what your expect)

  • http://www.facebook.com/jack.winberry Jack Winberry

still haven’t caught up with the rest of the comic yet, but something’s bugging me about the page setup. there’re two archive links on the top and bottom of the page, but when i use them, they just lead me to some random comic page. maybe you should relabel the links or something?

    • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

to check the real archive click the ARCHIVE button on the thing that has FORUM, KATBOX HOME, and other links

      • http://www.facebook.com/jack.winberry Jack Winberry

i know about that, i just wanted to make sure that specific problem with the page was brought to light if it wasn’t before.

        • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

Well, on other comics they changed the first archive button into a random button.

          • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

I really should check the other posts, I just paraphrased what Sage said… (-.-)

    • Sage

We are still fixing areas of the site. Currently the Archive system needs the most work and it’s a LOT of work. The Archive buttons in the center are actually Random Page buttons changed to say Archive- because well… That’s where we used to have em, it’s just proving trickier to change than expected I think. Eventually it will be fixed and the archive will be all pretty or at least more functional ^_^

  • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

WOW! new comic on my birthday! what a treat!

    • http://twitter.com/alex_longfur alex_longfur

Such a horrible statement… Seppuku time!

  • Etrius

Sage, you should try making nendoroids of your characters in yosh. That would be cool :D
nendoroid definition for all you nonanimeists out there: normally associated with anime or animated characters, nendoroids are figures of a character in which they have a disproportionally large head and eyes and a smaller body, I find them quite cute

    • Sage

I own a few of those, but I have no clue how I would go about having some made. If I had an inexpensive way to have some designed and made I would probably do so (at least for some Kate ones- maybe Blue and Nami too XD)
