      I don’t want to be rude – Well okay, I don’t think it’s worth bothing trying to not offend supremisists as they don’t bother to try not to offend others – but generally supremacist comes across as evil. Oooh! Burn! I went there!

        I don’t think that they think they are evil. They probably think they are doing the right thing. It is very rare that someone does something they know to be wrong.

        What Draven says. It’s not about that they’re evil, that’s not the focus of their cult. They are evil because of their actions, not because their cult says “to be a member you have to be evil”.

    Well, it seems my theory that we’d skip ahead a bit was right. But it seems mum didn’t need much explaination in order to realise. Also, love the title.

    Random thought! Do you think that the fire mage can control the colour of her flames? After all, the colour of fire depends on what you’re burning – and as she’s burning nothing…
    (That occured to me in chemistry today – I just thought it was a weird idea.)

      Actually depending on the fire spell she uses, it could simply burn the air using magic as a flame amplifier (orange to red flame results, blue flame could result but would consume plenty of air and/or mana). Most fire spells that do not use objects from the world for fuel than use the user’s mana as fuel. So the fire mage his-/her-self determines the color, often by personality or other innate traits.

      I am not certain Sage is following this general guideline for casting, but it is a general one that so far has fit.

      Actually, most of the Fire family is made up of hotheaded jerks that only care about themselves and gaining power. Granted its mostly because their magic hungers and consumes which affects them mentally and drives them to crave more… So… Kinda evil :)

        Then again, they could just be driven crazy by their magic and just lose control of every thing. I personally believe this is a more likely scenario because it seems to me that “fire its self” doesn’t want to be used much except for cooking, and heating things and occasionally lighting things on fire for no real reason. Not just lighting a room or two merrily ablaze every time its user gets angry.

        While fire has many negative connotations it can be used for good. If i get my symbology right the Sun is one of the greater symbols for fires more pleasant nature by giving light and warmth to the world which most being need to thrive.

        Then there is also the renewing and cleaning aspect. Many plants and even entire ecosystems need a good old fire once in a while to stay healthy.

        And there is strong cultural tie, without fire i dont think we could enjoy your comic right now.

        That is up for debate. I think it would be worse if she was with a loser mage, but she was with the Magi of Fire. Totally better in my mind, but still a personal opinion.

    So… Either she didn’t realise who her daughters father was untill now, after they explained a lot… Or she knew and very little explaination was required. So this doesn’t actually clear much up. I prefer the second one actually. Seems to fit better.

    Actually sage already told us in the comic that this had nothing to do with lineage or who was next in line, it came to her because it wanted to be in control for once. The twins already knew who it was “supposed” to go to and did not.
    Awesome work as usual sage!! I am guessing the mother works for cortex though in some capacity.

      Actually I said the magic chose her because it thought she would be weak willed since she had no magic prior and no training in magic. It still has to go to a member of the bloodline. Normally it is forced to go to the next strongest but since it was temporarily free from any master, it was able to manipulate its connection and found a bloodline member not associated with the family.
